Tuition Praxis Assistance Information

I. Overview

The Program helps employees finance formal education and Praxis exam fees. Assistance does not guarantee continued employment, new job assignments, pay increases, or promotions.

Funding for tuition reimbursement is available through Federal funds for the purpose of providing opportunities for teachers to take courses which assist in:

  • meeting certification requirements,

  • broadening job-related academic knowledge, and

  • continuing Professional Growth.

Priority to these funds will be given to all teachers who are who are seeking certification in the area they are currently teaching or are being requested to teach by the district.

II. Funding
Priorities for these funds will be based upon several criteria: program of study, stage in add-on certification process, content area, and district need of certification.

III. Eligibility

All employees must be employed during the entire school semester for which assistance is sought:
New Hires: Course must begin after your first day of employment.
Separated Employees: Course must be completed during your time of employment.
Attend an accredited institution and must receive grades and college degree credits.

IV. Reimbursement
A maximum of six (6) credits per semester will be reimbursed.
Reimbursement will be made equivalent to the current cost of graduate or undergraduate tuition up to $600.00 per 3 credit hours or half of the tuition costs if approved by the HR director.
Reimbursement will also be made for the cost of Praxis exams.
Tuition for credit courses may be reimbursed for participants who successfully complete approved courses as evidenced by a grade of A, B, C or Pass for a Pass/Fail course.
Each participant for credit course must complete a Teacher Tuition Reimbursement application.

In order to receive tuition reimbursement the following steps must be taken:
Download and complete an application for teacher tuition assistance. Submit all grades and fee invoices by the appropriate deadlines. A tuition assistance form must be completed and approved prior to starting any coursework. Any requests for reimbursements made without the proper documentation will be denied.

All requests for fall reimbursement must be submitted by the end of the first week of January. All requests for spring reimbursement must be submitted by the end of the third week in May. Summer requests are due by the second week of August. Any requests submitted after this date may not be eligible for reimbursement.
