Letter from the Superintendent about Covid and school
January 6, 2021
To the parents and students of Bogalusa City Schools:
As we continue to watch the progression of COVID 19 in our parish and state, we can see that the numbers continue to rise. Today, January 6, 2021, Louisiana recorded the highest numbers of cases to date, 6822.
Currently Washington parish has an infection rate of 15%, down a little from yesterday, but still dangerously high. It is with this in mind, that I recommend that our students continue to learn remotely, from home, until the 19th of January. This decision does not come lightly, as we know the best place for our children to learn is at school, with their teachers. However, we cannot have them return to school in what seems to be the height of this pandemic.
We will continue to monitor the numbers and keep you informed of the decisions coming from our central office. Please continue to watch our website and face book pages for details as they arise. Our schools and central office will remain open.
Thank you as always for your continued support of our district. Please remain vigilant in your mask wearing, hand washing, and social distancing. Together we will move out of this unprecedented time to better days.
