As voted on by the Bogalusa City School District Board Members in the October 2025 meeting, the Bogalusa City School District is offering a one-time $2,000 sign-on bonus for the Spring semester to new teachers hired in the following critical needs areas:
2nd–5th Grade Math and ELA Teachers
6th–12th Grade SPED, Math, and Science Teachers
To qualify, you must be new to the district and hold certification in the applicable critical needs area(s). Current district employees who are certified in one of these areas and apply for a critical needs position are also eligible for the one-time stipend upon selection. In other words, if you are currently teaching in the district in a non–critical needs area and hold certification in a highly critical needs area, you may apply to transfer into the high-needs position and receive the one-time stipend if selected.
The State of Louisiana has provided the district with grant funding to address unique market challenges in teacher recruitment and retention in 6th-12th Grades. General Funds will provide funds for K-5th Grades. These funds will be used specifically to attract, recruit, and retain high-quality educators to serve in high-demand and critical-needs positions.
