πŸ“£ Bogalusa High School Track Booster ClubπŸ“£ Meeting #1 was held Thursday, February 8th at 6:00 pm, inside Bogalusa High School Football Fieldhouse via the Gary C. Magee Track Complex. Meeting #2 will be held on Thursday, February 15th, at 6:00 pm., in the same location. We ask all former track athletes, parents, coaches, business leaders, teachers, bus drivers, friends, city workers, and well-wishers of BHS track to get involved in something great; let’s try to save some of our youths. We will hand out plans for the β€˜24 track season at BHS, including the City and the Parish. We need your advice, input, and support in our endeavor. Several meetings are scheduled in Bogalusa at BHS Track Stadium on 3/7/24, 3/21/24, and 4/11/24. We will need your help! Finally, I would like to see us organize a Washington Parish Track and Field Youth League. Please feel free to contact me any time; my contact information is below. Thank You! ✨ Celebrating Black History Month! 🌟 Robert "Bob" Hicks (February 20, 1929 – April 13, 2010) was a prominent leader in Bogalusa, Louisiana, during the Civil Rights Movement, whose activism helped put an end to segregation and discriminatory practices in education, housing, employment, public accommodations, and healthcare. Best known for his leading role in founding the Bogalusa chapter of The Deacons for Defense and Justice, an armed African-American self-defense group, Hicks led daily protests on the streets of Jim Crow-era Bogalusa.

In the wake of last night's unimaginable tragedy that has befallen our school community, we find ourselves grappling with profound sorrow. Although this incident occurred off campus, it was close enough to have an adverse effect on the school event that was taking place. We value everyone's safety and concerns; the remaining home basketball games will be played away or at a neutral site. As a resilient community, we will rise above the grief that weighs heavily on our hearts. Let us channel our sorrow into a shared commitment to support one another so we can heal and emerge stronger and more compassionate by standing united. As a precaution, we will provide extra security for Bogalusa High School when school resumes on Tuesday, and grief counselors will be available for staff and students. The Lumberjack family extends our sympathy and condolences to the students' families. We appreciate the phone calls, emails, and support from school districts, citizens, and stakeholders. Dr. Byron C. Hurst, Ed.D. Superintendent
