Bogalusa High School JAG Students Gain Workplace Skills at Thursday Night Football🏈🏈
Students in the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program put their skills to work during Friday night’s football game by running the concession stand. The project was part of their service learning activities, designed to help students connect classroom lessons with real-world experiences.
Working in the busy concession stand gave students the chance to practice important job competencies, such as customer service, handling money, and working efficiently under pressure.
They also strengthened their survival competencies by adapting to unexpected challenges, such as long lines and limited supplies, all while keeping a positive attitude.
The project highlighted the importance of basic competencies like math, communication, and teamwork, which were used every minute behind the counter.
Several students took the lead in organizing tasks and keeping everything running smoothly, giving them valuable leadership experience. Others focused on self-development, recognizing how their confidence grew throughout the evening as they interacted with customers and supported one another.
By the end of the night, JAG students had not only helped raise funds but also gained practical skills that will benefit them in school, at work, and in life.

They continue their engaging learning as they read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. They recently read together and discussed the evolution of the main character based on interactions with other story characters. Great job, 9th grade scholars!📚🖤💛
