Mrs. Stacy Garza's 9th grade students kicked off the year with an exciting escape room activity as they reviewed English skills covered the previous school year. They continue their engaging learning as they read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. They recently read together and discussed the evolution of the main character based on interactions with other story characters. Great job, 9th grade scholars!📚🖤💛

We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming Pupil Progression Plan Parent and Community Meeting, designed to keep you informed and engaged in your child's academic journey.

Bogalusa JROTC are en route back home. Their competition started Saturday morning with the 3K (1.8 mile) team run, carrying a 75-pound tube as a team. (Team score 14m43s) The Physical Team Test was a test of strength and speed; they clocked in a score of 2m7s. These two events were held outside on the beach of Daytona. Cadets then moved to the Ocean Center to finalize their last three events: pull-ups/flex arm hang, double jump, and the seated power throw. Most Pull-ups: Caleb Thornton - 25 Longest Flex Arm Hang: Destinee Penn - 1m 34s Longest Double Jump: Male - Daymeon Magee - 242.8 cm Female - Grace Jones - 205.3 cm Seated Powerball: Male - Ethan Williams - 218.3 cm Female - Charnise Russell - 177.4 cm After a hot, long day, cadets enjoyed their time shopping local markets and observing the Coast Guard and Air Force Honor Platoons conduct their exhibition drill routines. The end of the night, our cadets enjoyed a meal at the Oyster Pub, where we had our goodbyes to our Senior Raiders, as this was their last competition with the Mighty Lumberjacks!

Read Across America was observed last week as students had a belated celebration for the wonderful Dr. Seuss!! Students learned about the author and listened to a reading of Green Eggs and Ham by BHS Librarian Mrs. Amy Adams. Several skills were focused on as the students listened and interacted during the story. An engaging game was played in cooperative groups after the reading. The "real" Cat in the Hat even made an appearance! The lesson ended with cupcakes to honor the author. 📚📚📚
