BHE Guidance Counselor Mrs. Tanya Moses met with the Class of 2025 to give some words of wisdom to help their senior year flow positively. She gave each a BHS Senior Newsletter and discussed important topics outlined there, such as ACT, diploma tracks, FAFSA, and much more. Our seniors are off to a great start to their last year!!🎓🎓🎓🎓🎓
BHS has implemented APP(Academic Preparatory Period) this school year. This 30-minute period allows for extensive intervention and enrichment. Each day has a set lesson plan to be done with the teacher and their Lumberjack Family. Their first assignment was to create a commercial highlighting ways they will have a Gold Medal Year. The APP class winners for the top commercials were treated to an ice cream party.

Alfred “Tre” Moses lll is the Big Bad Lumberjack Band Member of the Week. Tre serves as Drum Major for the 2024-25 season. He is a sophomore honor student, section leader, and a member of the band fraternity Beta Beta Lambda. He has also attended Southern University and Grambling State University High School Summer Band Camps. Tre is a leader on and off the field. 🖤🎼🎶💛

Our middle school students have been putting science into action! Students in the classes of Ms. Arin Cook and Mrs. Kathy Lopez have been taking part in engaging and fun science experiments. These hands-on activities provide opportunities to work cooperatively, encourage critical thinking, and make connections with science and the real world. Kudos to our middle school scholars and their amazing teachers!

Mrs. Megan Herndon is selecting top scholars in her middle school math classrooms and honoring them with the title Student of the Week. Congratulations to Kaiden Hopkins(8th grade) and Michael Peterson(7th grade)! Both made the highest scores throughout all of Mrs. Herndon's math classes for the week. Keep up the great work!🖤💛
Attention 9th Grade Parents:
Bogalusa High School is an active participant in the Adolescent Pre-Diabetes Prevention Program. The program’s purpose is to detect the onset of pre-diabetes and to reduce type 2 diabetes in adolescents living in rural Louisiana. Through nutrition and physical activity education, the program teaches high school students and staff how to adopt healthy lifestyles.
All 9th grade students have received consent forms. Please have your student return the signed consent form to school by August 22, whether you would like them to participate in the program or not. All students with returned consent forms will receive a free t-shirt as well as pizza.
Big Bad Lumberjack Band Member of the Week
Devin Adams is a senior at BHS. He maintains a 4.2 GPA. He is Sousaphone Section Leader and Band Master Drill Sergeant. He is a member of the Drama Club and a 3 year participant in Southeastern Louisiana University's Upward Bound Program. He is a member of National Honor Society and Beta Club. He has an ACT score of 26. This is Devin’s 4th year marching with the band. This week we celebrate our member with Lumberjack Pride. GO JACKS!🖤💛
