Are you a Louisiana parent?
Do you have a child under age 5?
If so, please take a few minutes to fill out the #LouisianaChildCareParentPoll. Your
responses will help policymakers better understand the child care needs of families with
young children across the state and allow them to advocate for policies that best address
those needs.
@UnitedWaySELA, @LAEducation, @PolicyInstituteLA and @agendaforchildren are
partnering to conduct a survey of families across the state with young children under the

Community members welcome!

JROTC Lumberjack BN recognized local Veterans throughout the area at their annual Veterans Day Breakfast and Program, a time to honor all those that have served and are still serving in military uniform.
In attendance were Veterans from American Legion Post 24, Veterans from our community, Mr. Ryan Seal, Washington Parish President, Dr. Byron Hurst, Superintendent of Bogalusa City Schools, BHS Principal Mrs. Saudah Blackman-Stokes, and BHS Assistant Principal Ms. Kewanda August. Special thanks to JAG teacher Mrs. Tammy Crain, for preparing the wonderful meal that was served by our Battalion staff to our Veterans and guests.
The Lumberjack Battalion was present to participate in the formal ceremony; afterwards Battalion inspection was conducted and Battalion and Company pictures were taken. We had over 18 Veterans to join us on this Veterans Day, November 11, 2024. Each Veteran received a certificate, American flag pin, and a Challenge Coin from Cadets 1SG Jordon Tate and C/KayLeigh Taylor that stated on the front, “We stand for the Flag, We Knee for the Fallen.” The back of the coin stated, “Always Remember, Never Forget … DUTY, HONOR, COURAGE…Proudly Served.”
The program was conducted by the Battalion Staff, and they did an amazing job. Some highlights of the events that took place were: Posting of the Colors, National Anthem by C/Rhiyanna Holloway, Pledge of Allegiance by C/CSM Rodney Gill, Invocation by C/MAJ Lyric Pam, and information on the Veterans Day poster by C/CPT Kaiden Klimenko. Each Service of the Armed Forces was recognized by having the following cadets carry the service flag while playing the Service Song: Army flag carried by C/Moncheree Johnson; Marine flag carried by Amanda Norman; Navy flag carried by C/Aniya Morris; Air Force flag carried by C/1SG Se’Miyah Warren; Coast Guard flag carried by C/Destinee Penn. C/CPT Gina McCain and C/OPS SGM Alyssa Smith shared a few Veterans Day poems, and C/MAJ Jodie Knight shared a little history about the military custom called "Taps".
It is with love and gratitude we bid a fond Lumberjack farewell to BHS custodian Ms. Dora Harris. She faithfully served the Bogalusa City School District for 29 years! Thank you for everything, Ms. Dora, and happy retirement!!

The members of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Fr. Hubert Bourdenave Assembly No. 2206, based out of Annunciation Catholic Church in Bogalusa, and Holy Family Catholic Church in Franklinton, decided to purchase American-made U.S. flags for veterans' graves in cemeteries throughout Washington Parish this year.
Mr. Justin Schuver, a Knights of Columbus 4th Degree member who is also a middle-school STEM teacher at Bogalusa High School, was in charge of putting out flags at Bogalusa Cemetery. Six cadets with the Bogalusa High School JROTC assisted Mr. Schuver on Sunday afternoon with placing flags at veterans' graves in the cemetery. The cadets were: Timothy Boudreaux, Tyler Williams, Destiny Penn, Amanda Norman, Maya McKelphin, and Grace Jones. A special thank you to Mr. Teddy Drummond, who assisted with informing the cadets about the project and also provided tools to help with the flag placement. First Sgt. Jack Rogers also helped with making sure the cadets would be able to assist. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Class of 2024🖤🏈💛

Our Lumberjacks participated in "My Jersey, Your Impact” today to honor faculty members that have positively impacted their educational and personal journeys over their years as a student at Bogalusa High School. These senior athletes surprised their chosen faculty member with their football jersey to wear for the day. 🖤🏈💛

11th grade students in Mrs. Lenora Pierce's class read The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. As their final project, students chose scenes or events that portrayed various parts of the book and/or characters. They then created a visual representing what they chose.
The students had fun with this activity and were very creative!

Please join us for our BHS JROTC Veterans Day Program!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
